Military Macaw & the Oldest Parrot Mummy

The recent finding of a mummified Military macaw, buried in a tomb along with humans, may indicate that these parrots were kept there as companion birds as early as 2,000 years ago. This pushes back by almost 10 centuries the period from which parrots are assumed to have been kept as pets.
